Bonded fillings are usually small restorations that use composite resins (enamel-like material) to correct minor tooth damage or imperfections. These tooth-colored fillings improve not only the aesthetics of damaged teeth but also improve their functionality.
If you are looking to get your slightly damaged or decayed teeth restored relatively quickly and easily, bonded fillings are one of the options available to you.
If you have lost or are about to lose one or more teeth because of decay, disease, or injury, Kanata Lakes Dental offers a variety of treatment solutions for patients with missing teeth. One of the most popular among them is a dental bridge. It is a solution that can generally deliver very good results in terms of both its functionality and an aesthetic look.
A dental bridge is essentially a fixed partial denture that permanently attaches the prosthetic replacement teeth to the adjacent natural teeth. The prosthetic teeth are made of porcelain or ceramic material, and they can be perfectly matched with the color of your own teeth. The natural look is one quality that makes dental bridges very popular, the other is their support and stability. Traditional bridges are stable because they are attached to the neighboring teeth, implant-supported bridges are held firmly in place with dental implants (Titanium Implant) Once in place, a bridge stabilizes the entire area and prevents any shifting and misalignment of the adjacent teeth.
Kanata Lakes Dental Centre is proud to be one of the few dental clinics that offer CEREC dentistry in Kanata.
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) dentistry makes use of a digital scanner (CAM/CAD computer-aided manufacturing/ computer-aided design) to take impressions of the patient’s mouth. This technique is highly accurate, faster, and more pleasant for the patient than the traditional method of taking impressions.
The computer then passes this information into a milling unit that fabricates a ceramic orthodontic appliance.
Unlike traditional dentistry, where the preparation of orthodontic appliances can take up to two weeks and a minimum of two visits, CEREC dentistry can restore your teeth the same day
CEREC is used to fabricate:
Choosing CEREC dentistry can save you time and stress related to multiple visits to the dental office.

Dental crowns have been used for a very long time in dentistry because they represent a relatively simple and versatile restorative solution for seriously damaged or diseased teeth.
If you have ever had a root canal treatment, a tooth with large fillings, or a broken tooth restored, dental crowns were most likely used to repair and strengthen the damaged tooth structure and to protect it for years to come.
Dentists recommend crowns to their clients for various reasons. Dental crowns can, for example, improve the aesthetic appearance of broken, chipped, and crooked teeth. They can also protect and strengthen worn-out teeth, act as a support for bridges, restore dental implants, and close small gaps between teeth for proper tooth alignment.
Crowns are often used to complement a variety of other restorative and corrective procedures.
Dental crowns are almost exclusively made of durable ceramic material or porcelain; these materials resemble tooth enamel and can be tinted to perfectly match the color of the surrounding teeth. Ceramic and porcelain crowns are very popular because they look natural and blend in easily.
For the convenience of some of our very busy clients, Kanata Lakes Dental Centre also offers CEREC crowns. New advances in dental technology allow us to prepare, manufacture, and place a CEREC crown in a single appointment.
If you are concerned about the health or the appearance of any of your teeth, we will be happy to put your mind at ease. Our Kanata dentists will make an evaluation and explain and discuss all possible solutions with you.

One of the many services Kanata Lakes Dental Centre offers to the local community is teeth extractions. Even though our goal always is to treat and preserve every tooth possible, there are circumstances where this simply is not feasible. Sometimes due to extensive injury, decay, or periodontal disease, natural teeth are too damaged and cannot be saved. On occasion, a tooth or several teeth have to be extracted to make room for a new restorative or reconstructive treatment such as dental implants, dental bridges, or dentures.
We also routinely perform wisdom teeth extractions which can be sometimes a little more complicated because of the size of the wisdom teeth and their location in the mouth. If your wisdom or any other teeth are causing you pain and discomfort, we invite you to visit our Kanata office as soon as possible. Early intervention could eliminate the need for extraction and save you your natural tooth. Call us for a consultation.
Kanata Lakes Dental Centre offers treatments for a wide variety of dental problems. We can treat tooth damage caused by smoking, poor hygiene, disease, injury, and other factors. Sometimes multiple problems require a multidisciplinary approach called Full mouth restoration.
Using this multidisciplinary approach, our dentists can restore not only the functionality of your teeth but also restore and improve your smile and confidence – to help you make a good and lasting impression on the people around you.
The gingival Grafting process is commonly used to treat gingival recession (receding gums).
Gingival recession can be caused by genetic factors, hormonal changes, aggressive brushing habits, or gum disease.
The process is often slow and gradual and may go unnoticed in the initial phases. However, eventually, patients notice that the roots of their teeth look exposed, and they experience sensitivity while eating hot or cold foods.
This process weakens the structure of the teeth and provides an ideal place for the bacteria to develop, leading to further complications.
When a problem is diagnosed early on, it can often be treated more simply, effectively, and less expensively. That is why we recommend regular dental check-ups and cleanings at least once every 6 months.
Our Kanata dentists can help keep your teeth sparkling clean and white, treat and prevent bad breath, and keep your gums healthy and pink. We are sure that after your appointment you will realize that there was nothing to be anxious about – and that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. The process is painless but we do offer sedation dentistry for people who experience anxiety or fear during their dental visits.
Invisalign can be the perfect solution for people who are concerned about the unattractive look of braces and other orthodontic l appliances. It offers a minimally invasive and inconspicuous treatment option for certain types of orthodontic issues and problems. If you are not completely happy and confident about your smile, we would like to help you change that. Call us and come see what we can do for you.
Dental implants are becoming an increasingly popular treatment solution for people who have lost one or more of their teeth because of injury, extensive decay, or another disease. If this describes your situation and you are missing the look, the function, the convenience and the confidence that your natural teeth provided consider replacing them with the next good thing – dental implants.
Compared to traditional removable dentures, implant-supported dentures are second only to natural teeth. They offer a better fit, support, and stability – characteristics that can significantly improve a person’s appearance, enhance the quality of speech, improve eating habits and digestion, and can generally make your life easier and more enjoyable.
Are you feeling self-conscious about your smile because your teeth appear short and small in relation to your gums? The good news is that our dentists can improve your “gummy smile”, using a relatively simple procedure called Laser Gum Contouring. A wide or irregular gum line can be corrected with a special laser that trims excess gum tissue. This procedure helps expose more of your teeth and makes them look bigger. The soft tissue laser cauterizes the blood vessels, thus significantly preventing infection and blood loss.
Our Kanata dentists can carry out laser-gum contouring treatment in a single appointment. With the use of local anesthetic, it is painless and recovery takes only a few days. We will give you complete instructions on how to properly take care of your oral health and accelerate the recovery process.

Kanata Lakes Dental Centre has been offering high-quality orthopedic and orthodontic services for over two decades. We can diagnose a problem, treat it, and guide you through your recovery.
Orthodontics and orthopedics are often very important components of corrective and restorative dentistry. Treatments focus on slowly and gradually correcting misalignments in teeth, muscles, and jaw through the use of gentle but consistent pressure.
The function of various orthodontic appliances is to push the teeth and/ or bones back into place and eliminate the need for corrective surgery.
We recommend routine baseline evaluation for children around the age of 7or 8. If a potential problem is diagnosed early when a young child’s facial structure is malleable, more serious complications like TMJ and others may be avoided later in life.
That said, orthodontic and orthopedic procedures can benefit both adults as well as children. If you would like more information on whether orthodontic treatment could help you, contact our Kanata dentists.
Porcelain inlays and Onlays can be used to repair teeth showing mild to moderate decay. Just like traditional fillings, inlays and Onlays repair tooth damage, minimize further damage and fully restore your chewing function and efficiency.
These two restorations have some important advantages over the traditional fillings, but they are certainly not always the best and the only solution. It is an option to keep in mind whenever you make an appointment with us for tooth restoration.
If you’re looking to instantly enhance your smile, there may be no better option than porcelain veneers. These cosmetic dental restorations can do everything from mask stains, close gaps, fix chips, and prevent discomfort from small cracks. These can cause increased sensitivity to both hot and cold foods. Porcelain veneers are tiny thin shells that are cemented to your tooth’s surface, dramatically improving your smile. Veneers are a great option because they are easily placed, long-lasting, and can conceal many issues like discoloration or cracks. They can be a great alternative to whitening, crowns, fillings, and implants.
Kanata Lakes Dental Centre has performed scores of root canal treatments over the last two decades. It is one of the most commonly performed and effective restoration techniques in the dental industry.
Whenever a tooth becomes severely damaged due to injury, decay, or disease, the condition may cause sensitivity, pain, fever, infection, inflammation, etc. Root canal therapy may be required to save and preserve the compromised tooth. During this procedure, the pulp (nerve) tissue is completely removed and the tooth canals are thoroughly cleaned to stop the infection. Once this is done, the canals are filled with a sealer paste and a rubber compound to strengthen the integrity of the remaining tooth structure. However, even with this reinforcement, the tooth remains more brittle and needs to be protected and restored as soon as possible. The most common prosthetic restoration used is a dental crown.
Root canal therapy is performed using local anesthetics. Mild sedative can be added for those who need a little extra help and reassurance to feel comfortable throughout the procedure.
If you are currently experiencing frequent dental pain and discomfort, you may need root canal therapy as soon as possible. Call us today!
