J. Brannan Smoot, MD, is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon, who received his fellowship training in the knee, foot, and ankle surgery. He is also subspecialty certified in sports medicine. In 2012, Dr. Smoot was recognized by his peers on the Texas Super Doctors list. He received a bachelor of arts in human performance and health sciences from Rice University in Houston. He completed his graduation from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and went for both internship and residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Brannan Smoot also completed a knee fellowship as well as a foot and ankle fellowship in Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Smoot is married with three children, and spends most of his spare time with his kids or coaching their sports team. He played Division I college football at Rice University, and also represented the USA in rugby against Canada in 1992. Whenever free, Dr. Smoot loves participating in triathlon and adventure racing.
