Dr. Corbett (Cory) Winegar is a fellowship-trained and Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He comes to Coeur D Alene from the Boise area where he is taking time off from his orthopedic practice to study advanced knee surgery with Dr. Lyman.
Following his medical and orthopedic training Dr. Winegar served as an orthopedic trauma surgeon at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. He also worked in Yakima, Washington as the Orthopedic Trauma Director at Astria Regional Medical Center.
He completed his orthopedic residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, and then spent a year of specialty training in advanced orthopedic trauma and fracture care at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. During his training he was able to spend a year in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University/Rothman Institute. He conducted research on spinal pathology and spine trauma and published several scientific papers.
Before starting his medical training, Dr. Winegar worked as a firefighter and paramedic in Utah where he grew up. He also worked as a police officer, deputy sheriff and served on the SWAT team. Dr. Winegar is excited to be here in North Idaho and care for the people as he continues his learning of advanced knee surgery, under the direction of Dr. Lyman.
