I grew up in rural Minnesota. I have 4 children and a husband. I completed my undergraduate nursing degree from the College of St. Benedict. Following graduation I worked as a bedside nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, adult Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Units. Through these experiences, I learned I was passionate about providing high quality care, but realized I was only able to help individuals and families place a band aide on the acute problems. So, I went back to school. Fun fact, as a nurse I traveled and lived in California and China!
I graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2010. I transitioned to working in outpatient ambulatory care settings and developed a real passion for working with individuals from a health prevention standpoint. I gained experience in providing care in Urgent Care, Family Practice, Women’s Health, Telehealth, and Sleep Medicine. I felt like I needed a little bit more, so I went back to school. Fun fact, as a Nurse Practitioner I have lived and worked in 4 different states and started a non-profit Children’s Museum!
In 2018, I graduated with a Doctorate from the University of Minnesota. During my education, I was cultivated and offered opportunities to grow as a Nurse Practitioner and to think about the global implications of health and wellness, and how the environment impacts our bodies, minds, and spirits. I spent a week studying abroad in Iceland, and found I gained a great appreciation for the kind of care that is provided to individuals and how through caring holistically for individuals we can help improve their health but also create a great state of wellness.
