Justin Fischer, MD

Dr. Fischer’s arrival marks the first time any practice or hospital in Peoria has been able to offer 3 Board Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeons to serve the needs of patients in Central Illinois. In fact, we are the only multi-surgeon team of colorectal surgeons available in Peoria hospitals.

Education
A native of the Peoria area, Dr. Fischer graduated from Roanoke Benson High School. Go Rockets! He attended Illinois State University majoring in biology, minoring in chemistry, and graduating magna cum laude.
He received his doctorate of medicine (MD) from Southern Illinois University. He then took his medical education to the West coast and Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California where he won awards for resident research.
It was here that his surgical education flourished under the guidance of surgeons from both the University of Southern California and the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center.
He quickly developed a passion for the care of patients with colon and rectal cancers.

Colorectal Specialization
Dr. Fischer completed a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Southern Illinois University. He is skilled in the advanced care of colon and rectal cancer with an emphasis on prevention but also benign colorectal disease, anorectal disease, pilonidal disease, and fecal incontinence.
His skill sets include minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
Exposed to the medical field at the age of 5 with his younger sister’s diagnosis of leukemia, Dr. Fischer has relentlessly pursued a career in medicine and is an advocate for the patient physician relationship.

He’s excited to give back to the medical community that has helped his family.
